THE CHOIR
Kentucky Bach Choir is a professional 24-voice auditioned choir.
ATTRIBUTES
Candidates should be:
a) classically trained singers, adept in art song, lieder, cantata and oratorio,
b) excellent music readers,
c) experienced in advanced choral techniques.
COMMITMENT
When accepted, singers are expected to:
a) attend regularly all scheduled rehearsals,
b) prepare the music in advance of each rehearsal,
c) perform in scheduled concerts and commissioned performances.
REHEARSALS
Rehearsals are held Tuesday evenings from 7 PM to 9 PM at First Presbyterian Church, 174 N. Mill St., Lexington, KY.
AUDITIONS
You may audition for membership in the Kentucky Bach Choir by contacting Marlon Hurst for an appointment. Hurst's contact info is listed below.
The audition requires all candidates to:

Sing the provided excerpt, downloadable here from the commencement of your voice part line through rehearsal A at a tempo of approximately 56 bpm to the dotted quarter.

Sing a prepared solo work of a legato nature and of your own choosing, preferably in German, though not mandatory. Those who do not sing in German will be asked to read aloud in German.

Vocalize to the top and bottom of your range.

Sing a sight-reading excerpt (not required for existing members of the KyBC).
